You don't honestly believe all the Mayan hooey do you?

The planets all align every year in exactly the way that one prediction has the world ending, they have for millions of years. The effect on Earth from the "extra gravitational pull" is less than 1 micro-gram per 1 million metric tons of mass.

Our magnetic poles do shift about every 790-810 million years according to the geological records, the current rate is estimated to be 1° per million years or less.

If life on Earth ends, it will be more likely an asteroid or comet strike that will do us in. Next February, Asteroid 2012DA14 will pass within 17,000 miles of the Earth's surface, that's well inside the orbits of communications satellites and the Space Station.

In astronomic terms, its mighty close for comfort, but it will miss us and not return until 2020 when it is predicted to zoom by with a wider margin of 30,000 miles.

Sigh....its a deal. But what if I anticipate the sudden failure of our gravitational field and carpet my condo and garage with Velcro so we don't float off, do you think you'll still be typing as you hurtle towards the Galactic Central Point and its Black Hole?

Have you thought of getting a slightly used Soyuz capsule for the basket?

Did you know I almost bought a surplus capsule up at an auction at Cheatam Annex 25 or so years ago?
