Thumbs down Barium smoothie today...Mmmmm good (NOT!)

I had to have an upper G.I. xray today. Had to drink that Barium crap. So this little cup is like maybe 4 ounces, looks all creamy and light. Not! When I grabbed it felt like it weighed 5 lbs. Thick as hell going down. Yeck!!!

Anyhow, turns out I got gallstones. Wonderful. Just wonderful.

Sorry about that, when is your surgery?
You could always come down to the Sun Shine State for the Surgery.

Guess I'm lucky, that when they check my kidney function, the dye is injected and not ingested!!

I had one of those a few years ago. Ended up that I had an ulcer.

LR, can't they use ultrasound to deal with the stones, or is it beyond that stage.

Speaking of injections, I had to have an isotope uptake bone scan done a few years ago to see how bad my arthritis was and where it was. They inject radioactive dye into your system...even though it's injected you can still taste it. On the scan I lit up like a freakin' Christmas tree. Because of the meds I'm on I have to have bloodwork done every month to check my liver, kidneys, cell counts, platelets, etc. Now I have rheumatoid arthritis and am starting to get osteoarthritis...not bad for a 39 year old

Been there.... To this day I don't know why they bother to flavor the crap.

I got tested for an ulcer a few years back. I guess I have an iron stomach because the barium I drank didn't bother me. It ended up being acid reflux in my case.

I've had to drink 2 bottles of that crap twice already this year, once for a CT Scan, and once for an MRI. And I have to do it again in mid-August for another CT Scan! My Insurance Co. is going to have a Cow!! I do wish they'd make it in Chocolate though! Yum!!
