Barry Bonds Closing in on Home Run Record

Getting backto Bonds for a moment...

When discussing death threats I think everyone who has, or hasn't, done any research knows that Hank Aaron suffered through WAY WAY WAY more crap than Bonds and he was no *******.

When there are doubt about what the truth is in a matter research can help a great deal. When it comes to Bonds I look at a few things.

His home run total went up after his "prime" years
His head size increased
His trainer is mixed up with BALCO
He admitted using the "cream" and the "clear", but said he did so unknowningly

All that, and one of the class acts of all time in baseball - Hank Aaron - wants nothing to do with the new "record". Is this sour grapes, or just a man who knows Bonds is a cheat?

I feel that all these 'roid fiends like McGwire, Palmeiro, and Bonds have sullied the sport. Notice I don't care what their ethnic backround is. They aren't 100% to blame of course as some of that taint must be placed at the feet of MLB and the MLBPA. I just wish it wasn't part of the game.

That is why I cheer for guys like David Eckstein, Derek Jeter, and Reed Johnson. Hard nosed guys who play the game the right way.

mizzouHHR, I don't agree that people come to the ballpark to see home runs. The Cardinal team that Whitey Herzog put together in the '80s didn't have a bonifide home-run hitter among them. Yet, they went to the World Series 3 time in 10 years. They probably would have gone more except for that strike-shortened season.

Hits and smart base running is what the fans want to see. I'll take a team of .300 hitters over Barry Bonds any day. Modern teams will simply pitch around him. And I hope the Cardinal pitchers do just that next weekend. Let him break the record anywhere but at Busch Stadium!

When he was a no body playing for the pirates early in his career he was just as big of a jerk as he is now. I've said it once already in this thread he does not care about his fans and has said in an interview "F@@K THE FANS". I really hope that the people that are supporting that A hole are just playing devils advocate to get under peoples skin.

I may be all wet on this, but going to games and watching ESPN Baseball Tonight, all they show are home runs, and an occasional "web gem". The highlights are all about the long ball.

Well, unfortunately, the sportswriters often tell us what to think and what we like. They think they know us so well!

I'd love to see the Cardinal pitchers blow a few past Bonds but they don't have the greatest staff this season. Either way, just don't let it happen in St Louis!

Mr. Bonds is the best hitter that drugs can produce. Like he says he's his own man. If that's what being your own man means, I don't want anything to do with it. For Berry its all about me me me me me me me.
Its really ashame because he could have been a GREAT BASEBALL PLAYER, without the drugs. But with Bobby as your father and Willie as your God father, this guy really didn't have a chance.
He had the talent but no brains or morals.
