My user name was given to me by a cute young girl I used to work with.
I have a rabbit skin winter cap with flaps you can let down when its really cold, I was wearing it one day along with my battered black leather ‘bikers’ jacket. I’ve also have a full beard pretty much since I graduated from high school.
When we were leaving work one particularly cold day her car would not start so I offered to jump start it with my MG. the MG has the Webber down draft carb with a real choke on it so I can actually drive it in cold weather.
I had moved the battery in the MG from under the back floor up under the hood just for the purpose of being able to jump start other cars more easily.
Once we got her POC Subaru going she thanked me and offered me a few bucks. I declined the money and told her to do the same for someone else someday.
She said “Your not nearly as scary a grizzly old man as I thought.”

If you've seen the Adam Sandler movie "Big Daddy" then you know Scuba Steve was the GI Joe like action figure that belonged to Adam Sandler's "son".
The nickname was given to me at my previous job, everyone in the shop got a nickname whether you liked it or not. So, you could either embrace it and make it your own or be tormented relentlessly by it. I chose to embrace it and changed up the spelling a bit to make it my own. In fact it's become so much a part of my life that my best friend's 4 year old son only knows me as Scooba (which helps avoid confusion since his uncle's name is also Steve)

hmm might get me in trouble if I do this...
... but StarCross was my gaming tag (still is, but gaming less now). Star came was my nickname from a childhood friend and the Cross from the games, I shot a mean crossbow.

Took some pics of my user name sake today
Here's my good ol' 87 Silverado (aka 87silver). 5.7L, TH700, 4x4, LSD, all the old world extras. One of the last of the "real" trucks (with a metal dash and vent windows). Paint you see was done in Flint, MI in 1987; All original; Still smells like "new Chevy" when you open the doors. Note the fuel tank fillers on both sides. She'll be 25 years old in April.
