Red face Camping

I can't wait to go camping this year! We always go camping every year and it is so much fun. Can't wait to use my HHR to pack our gear in. Don't think we can take the bikes unless I get a bike rack though.

Last year we stayed two weeks and just had so much fun hiking, swimming and riding our bikes around. My oldest son swore he heard a bear in the middle of the night. Turned out it was a big german shepard someone had brought with them. We had a camper but I much prefer to just use tents and sleeping bags. I have to remember to pick up some fishing license before we go.

thats why we bought ours too. we had a ford escort. before that an astrovan which had lots of room for our camping totes. i have a kitchen tote, a campfire tote and a sleeping bag/tent tote. with the escort i had to unload the totes into the trunk and backseat. looking forward to an hhr camping trip. were thinking about gettysburg/washington trip again.

Anyone ever use these tailgate tents? I assume that the tailgate stays open to create a common living space between the tent and the car. How would you turn off the front dome light if you used one?

i have a 2008 panel lt 2.4. and have a tear drop trailer i have towed over 10,000 miles with it. Camping is great in a HHR. and i have a universal bike rack that works great with the HHR.

87 the car shuts everything off after a set time. To save the battery life.

Were going to head up to the dragon/ball river falls area to camp.

Or simply lock the latch with a screw driver when the hatch is open just in case.

BTW I also can't wait to go camping!

Oh wow 87silver, that tailgate tent brings back some memories. When i was a kid we had a Vega Sport Wagon and Dad bought a tailgate tent for it, lots of camping trips with that setup.

After 20 minutes, but not the 12V power outlets, they are live (hot) constantly..

Somebody mention Chebby Vegas', I had a few & wagons only.
We used to pull the motors & bore them for iron sleeves. That made them last..
One even got a 283" V-8..
