Canadian Auto Sales

Figures were just released for auto sales in Canada and I thought I'd share some numbers just for interests sake.

For the fourth consecutive month auto sales are up compared to the same month in 2005. Nov sales were up 2.7%. Last time sales were up for 4 months in a row was 2002 when the Canadian auto sales set a record high.
Auto sales are a good indicator of the overall health of an economy.

Now the brand numbers (for November):
Ford up 15.5%
DaimlerChrylser up 8.4% (cars up 15.9%, trucks up 6.4%)
Honda up 17.2%
Nissan up 25%
Hyundai up 28.3%
Mazda up 2.2%
VW up 14.2%
Kia up 10.1%
Suzuki up 54%

GM down 13.5% (car down 18%, trucks down 9.4%)
Toyota down 2.2%
Subaru down 5.7%
Volvo down 47%
Mitsubishi down 17%
MB down 6%

BMW no change

These numbers are provided by DesRosiers Automotive Consultants

That's interesting Calgary...

I think it's pretty close to be the opposite of the U.S.

It would be interesting to see sales numbers for the various province. Area specific sales would be interesting. I think it would tell an interesting story.

Actually it's not that bad. He posted sales results for Canada. The sales results for the U.S. are more encouraging for GM and look poorly for Ford. It will still be a struggle for both the US companies , however.

GM = 6.1% up
Ford= 10% down
D Chrysler=2.9% up

And the BIGGY Toyota= 15% up.
