Canadian Govt. ready to loan GM cash...

The Canadian Govt. is set to give the Big 3 cash to assist them to get through the bad times and get their new projects out. They are only waiting for a decision in the U.S. The Can. Govt. speculates that 550,000 jobs are directly and indirectly at risk if they do not assist the auto industry. News states that this a small number as the ripple effects would be much more.

That's great that Canada is going to step up & help, but what about GM of Europe (Opel) and Australia (Holden)??? They stand to lose alot in their regions if GM doesn't make it as well! For that matter since all of our money goes to China anyway, they should be kicking in also, seeing how well Buick sells there!

If I'm not mistaken, Jeff....

I read a couple article last week regarding your statement.

Sweden is offering GM a $3+ Billion dollar loan and Germany was in discussions, and very close to offering a loan, of significant proportions.

That leaves the Asian Market and maybe "southern" Americas .

Odd how so many countries that aren't America are so concerned about the Big 3. I know it effects them greatly, but it seems like America should take care of her assets and not rely on everyone else to help out. Kinda thought we were trying to get off relying of other countries to keep us floating...

I think the Big 3 need to stay in business. I think if they all went under the Great Depression would look tiny in comparison to what would come.
