I can understand if the vehicle is worth less that the $4500, but I saw Volvo that scream for 10 minutes and they only stopped cause it caught on fire.

Wonder how many people stopped by carmax before the went to the dealerships.......

In California there were good reasons to CFC a car versus trying to sell it. You take risks in a private sale that you don't have when you trade it in to a licensed dealer.

Knowing that my car was not going to be resold, I told the dealer that I would prove that it was running, but I would not let anybody drive it until I was released from liability.

You might want to check the decimal on that one. 6666 cars X $4500 Trade-In Value only equals $29,997,000.

The official total was 690,114 totaling 2.88 billion traded in under the "Cash for Clunkers" program

Not every transaction involved the full $4500.00. Thus the discrepency between your amount and the actual amount
