Today marks the tenth anniversary of the accident that claimed Dale. For millions of race fans the world changed forever, for Dale's fans the world has never been the same. For me it marked the loss of a friend and a mentor. Dale was a huge part of my life for many years, and the hole left by his passing will never heal. I still remain close to the Earnhardt family, and I know that this week has been so very hard for them.

Whether you rooted for Dale or against him, whether he was your hero or your favorite villain, if you still scan the track in vain for that 3 car, you're not alone.

I'd like to share some photos from my personal scrapbook with you. Rest in peace Dale, you will be forever in my heart, and the hearts of millions who will always miss you.

 

I was watching that race of course, and was devistated when I heard what happened. He wasn't necessarily my favorite driver, but you certainly had to respect his ability.

I look at the crash as somrething freakish - Dale Sr. never should have lost his life in that wreck. He must have had his head in just the wrong position at hte exact moment of impact.

I'm really hoping Jr. has a good year in 2011. I did an imformal poll on FB about what drivers ppl were rooting for. Jr. was #1.
