What a terrible afternoon for the world of racing, following an accident at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Dan Wheldon the winner of this year's Indy 500 is dead at the age of 33. He leaves behind a wife and two young children, along with thousands of fans.

I had the pleasure of seeing Dan with the 500 this year in a storybook comeback from a racing career stalled by off track politics and sponsor woes. It was a magical moment and what was supposed to be the rebirth of a career in racing for Dan, sadly that dream has come to an end.

I've spent my life in and around racing, and death is a part of the game, but saying goodbye is never easy. Please keep Dan's family in your thoughts, and also the other drivers hurt in this terrible accident...Will Power, Pippa Mann, and JR Hildebrand.

I was watching the race on our local channel 7, too many cars and too many inexpericed drivers going over 200 MPH a very sad day.
