Not surprising. GE appliances break like the wind.

Not more than any one elses, the only thing is that GE can find problems faster than anyone else.

Hmmmm, noticed the date on this recall, as current. But, I remember something about this from about a year ago.....and I thought that was a recall as well. Maybe it was a different manufacturer. Many of these appliances are built by the same people, just under different brand names. Wonder who the primary contractor is on this machine......

Good thing my appliances are Maytag. They've kept their repairman without work for this long so they have to be good.

That's too bad. I thought I was going to have to return my wife to the manufacturer.

All our appliances are Maytag, but only becouse we got a great deal on an appliance pakage (huge fridge, smooth top stove with two ovens, over the range microwave/vent, dishwasher) when we were having our house built. We had GE previously with no problems. Maytag dishwashers were part of a recall earlier this year becouse of a fire hazzard involving the rinse aid. It would leak into the bottom where the wiring is, causing a possible fire hazzard. Sounds like this recall is for the same reason.

BTW It's hard for me to say anything negitive about GE since my wife works for them

Well maytag once built stuff that was so good that it almost put them out of business and then they went the opposite direction and they are now out of business and now are owned by whirlpool.

Yes alot of company's do all use the same appliances just with a different name on them but the majority of GE stuff is made by GE, we just actually built 4 new plants in the US just to build refrigerators. But most of the parts like the wire harness that is going bad is made by a company that makes them for just about every other company.

Hmmmm, noticed the date on this recall, as current. But, I remember something about this from about a year ago.....and I thought that was a recall as well.
That one wasn't a recall, it was on one model of refrigerator built in 01. The doors were built wrong with modern size and old school materials. The doors were built too thin with fiberglass insulation, and that let too much warm air in and cause alot of problems.
