No, it was actually on a Maytag Dishwasher. Had the same problem. My daughter has it, and had the recall/repair done.

Mentioned the GE recall to family members and found out the Maytag info from my daughter after I wrote that post.

Now, I need to check because we did a complete kitchen remodel and purchased all GE appliances except for the frig.......Amana (bad decision).

Hope our purchase made your wifes job more secure

I used to sell appliances at Sears. When we'd get customers looking at Frigidaires, GE's and Maytags, we'd point 'em to whatever was made by Whirlpool instead. Even if it was more expensive and we were less likely to get the extended warranty on 'em, we knew the Whirlpools wouldn't be coming back with an angry customer in tow and our commission checks in hand.

Maytag just got cheap and the Neptune and labor expenses drove them under. Whirlpool buying them is the best thing to happen to that brand in 50 years, but not necessarily the workers because they're shutting down most of the old plants and making the brand another Whirlpool/Kenmore/KitchenAid badge.

BTW, I grew up on GE appliances. I remember fondly those father-son bonding sessions once a year replacing the pump in the washing machine, the belt on the dryer, and the motor seal on the dishwasher. Those were the days!

I think i've replaced one of each thing in the last year, technology has come so far. And teh Neptune wasn't built cheep, it was just poorly designed, we've picked up a few tech's from maytag and that is what they've told me. And its actually bad for maytag in another way, they let go of all the Maytag men, they are now employee's of either A&E or Sears if they are lucky. As it stands GE is the only company with factory service left, and the crazy thing is that we have like maybe 1/3 of the techs that maytag had.

The Neptune WAS poorly designed, but it was the lawsuit that killed 'em. I couldn't give away Maytags after the settlement. People just came in with their checks from Maytag and bought anything else--wouldn't even look at the Samsung-built Neptunes. The last couple years of the original Neptune weren't bad, though. They had that cool hydro-balancer that kept them from walking all over the floor like every other front-loader.

Having already dumped on GE enough, I really do like the Profile appliances. Especially the washer/dryer set that communicated. That was pretty cool.

In the new Magellan front load there is no walking at all as long as you have the right feet on for the right surface, but i would never buy any front load washer. They all grow mold no matter who makes them, some more than others. But i love the fact that we don't use transmissions any more on any washer, they are all DC inverter motors that self diagnose them selfs. Plus this makes them all really quite.

P.S. Curt if you see this did i take care of your mold problem when i cleaned it out?
