It's more bright colored cars than anything else. They stand out more. Red is just a popular color. A friend bought a yellow mustang a while back. Got two tickets the first week. She said she drove the same way as before (it was a V6 chick stang... ). Same route to work. But now she stood out more.

Needless to say, she eventually got rid of it. Said it just stood out too much.

In my case, it's just a myth. Used to drive a 79 Merc Capri, bright red set up w/ rims and air shocks, never once got stopped. Then in my Suzi Sidekick, light blue, it was a cop magnet.

I think it's a myth that red cars get more tickets but I will agree that bright cars stand out and get more tickets than dark vehicles. That's part of why I always drive a dark vehicle. That and I'm just not a loud obnoxious color type of guy in general.

Ironically, the 3 speeding tickets I have gotten in the past 10 years have been in white or silver 4 doors. Never got one with the black or red MG's or the blue HHR.

Last three vehicles were RED and never pulled over in 80,000 miles. In college I had a TR3 that was black. I got pulled over 4 times in a month. Painted it red and never got pulled over again.

Only ticket I've had so far was fir tint, and the reason I was pulled over was for being TOO LOUD!!!!! That was before I added the resonators, it was really loud.

Tickets I have picked up have been in dark colored cars (one in my dark blue Cadillac years ago for 5 over the limit, one in my chocolate brown Cadillac a couple years later for equipment). My wife has a Victory Red G6, no tickets yet (unless you count the parking ticket she got right in front of our house because she was parked against the traffic flow).

In the 3 years I've had my Victory Red Colorado been caught "red handed" excuse the pun twice (one was 77 in a 55) but got off with a WARNING both times.

I'd had the silver HHR barely a month when I got pulled over for a mere 7mph over and given a TICKET (fortunately he put it down as 5mph so no points, but still cost $66!!!)

Not sure what that says...I think some cops target cars that are "youthful" looking for tickets. They want to teach the youngsters a lesson but if it's a geezer what's the use he'll never learn LOL! The HHR probably looks like a young person''s car to some of them--but he could for sure see I'm not exactly "youthful" after he pulled me over!
