Egocentricity seems like it would be a prooduct of self awareness. Most people naturally think in terms of themselves.

 

How could one ever deny the existence of alien life or non-terrestrial beings, you just have to walk around in Walmart for about ten minutes, especially on a Saturday.

 

Er...that's just pulling down the curve for us terrestrials. I'm sure somewhere there is some alien analogue of Walmart with alien people of such.

Is there life elsewhere in the universe? Yes, but it isn't necessarily intelligent life. Somewhere out there billions of light-years from us there may be some beings that are about the same level in an evolutionary plan, but we will never meet them. So, for all intents and purposes, we are, just God's children.
