Forgot, dealers do carry similar ones. You would need to see what wattage they are though. One for my van from the dealer was $40.00 - $50.00 if IIRC, about 4 years ago.

Thought I misspelled... maybe?

quote: Crazycarkid: Ok thanks... Yeah a picture would be helpful. THat really doesn't sound that expensive. Is installation pretty easy?

Install is pretty easy. Just get ready to have coolant on the floor unless you have a drain plug on the block. The V8 does. Drain all the coolant. Punch out the freeze plug where the heater will go. Clean the freeze plug bore of any debris. Install heater with the element in proper position so the heating element is not touching the block on the inside. The block heater should now be flush with the outside of the block. Tighten the hold down bolt located on the block heater. Refill coolant and bleed the cooling system of any air trapped. Just remember to unplug heater before you start the engine. If you dont, water rushing past the element will cause the element to burn out.

Cool, thanks for all your help! Like I said, it's not quite time for one of these yet, but it'll be here before you know it...

I'm sure winters are cold in MI just like NY CCK, but it aint Alaska. Why not get a remote start instead? That electric heater might get noticed on your monthly electric bill.

Well, a remote starter costs more, and I've heard plenty of issues from aftermarket ones. Also, that uses gas. Besides, I live at home, no electric bill for me. I'd have it set on a timer to come on at a certain time so it wouldn't be on all night anyways.

Well there goes this idea.... We finally got around to looking at the car, and we CANNOT find any freeze plugs in the block. We found a couple in the head, but that doesn't help us any. I looked online, and it almost appears as if no one can find them on a 3.1. Every site that someone asks, there's never an answer. Sounds like there may be two on the back side, but the transmission is in the way, so you'd have to remove the tranny or engine....no thanks.

This really sucks, I was really looking forward to getting one of these!
