Zerostart's catalog states for your 3.1 transverse, Model #3100015, mount location in CR (center rear freeze plug), point element @ 3 o'clock.

But the problem is, you can't even see any of the block on the rear side, the transmission is mounted there. I think the only way to access it would be to remove either the engine or transmission. Ugh, if I EVER order a brand new car, I'm going to pay the extra $45 and have a block heater installed at the factory!

I'll have to check that out. My son has a 2002 Grand Prix with a 3.1 in it. I'll let you know if his is the same.

Eric, to get to the back side of the motor in your Lumina, you can either go undernieth the car and reach up on the back side or you can pull out the front motor mount and take a ratchet strap and pull the top of the motor forward. I have done this before on my 95 Grand Prix when I changed the spark plugs.

Hmm...I didn't even see anywhere that you could really even reach your hand, let alone see what you were doing if you could. Was it very hard to take the motor mount off? When we changed the spark plugs we didn't have to pull it forward, my dad was able to just reach and get them...

There is only 2 bolts on the motor mount to take out. Pretty easy task.
