Arrow GM Builds 100-Millionth Small-Block Engine

It's taken 56 years, but the 100-millionth small block V-8 has been assembled. From its humble origins as the 265 cubic inch "Mouse Motor" in 1955 to the 638-horsepower supercharged LS9 in today's ZR1 Corvette, the small block Chevy has become the engine that others are measured by.

Great article, 843, thanks for posting.

But I have a question....

Reading down through the article, it mentions some V6 derivatives of the small block V8 AND indicates, if I understand correctly, they contribute to the milestone count.

If that is the case, isn't that "cheating" just a bit (probably just a bit when total number is 100M)?

Yeah they fudged a tad by including the 4.3 V-6 in the total, but it used/uses some of the 350's tooling and it shares the basic block minus the first two cylinders, so I guess they can get away with it.

The V6 is a small "small block".

^^^ This ^^^

Article doesn't state V8 as being the only "small block", it's the design features.....

Since the small block Chevy is still called the "Mouse Motor", should we call the 4.3 a "Minnie Mouse"?

Don't post about turtles either. They get reported.
