Another reason of which they decided not to inform us of....
We can make a zillion bucks off a specialized oil since GM will be the only ones requiring/using it. Kinda like Harley oil.........and then charging a licencing fee? Tell me THAT won't drive customers away.................if I need moly, I can use Slick 50

Interesting read. I liken it to when Harley came out with the TwinCam ('99)
& knew it needed a Full Syn oil..Since it ran so hot.. So HD made their own crappy syn oil. Syn 3.
Prior to that there were threats of voiding warranty for aftermarker Syn oil.. BS actually..

Seems the same here for the new GM motor..they make no money using M-1
so makes sense to market their own brand. $$$$
BMW has been doing it for decades too..

I've been adding Moly in my Flathead oil since the 80's.

As to our DD vehicles, I'll just stick to M-1 Full-Syn..
