GM sues steering column manufacturer
I've got 35,200 miles. and the front end sounds bad, and it was in 3 weeks ago for bushings. I'm gonna bring it back , and have them for the third time try and quiet the headliner, and the rear end clunck, and when its cold out and i 1st start driving, and hit a dip in the road (not a bump , a dip) the front end makes a sound like i'm driving a 1935 pickup truck . A rusty screech, that will go away after a few minets of driving WTF? Any ideas ?
I would not make excuses for anyone in such a case, but...electric-assisted power steering (such as found in Cobalt and HHR) is a very new technology. As such, it's not surprising that some "teething pains" are occurring.
Nonetheless, I hope GM prevails in its lawsuit. The vendor appears to be backpedaling, but GM has the upper hand IMO.

Ok I am taking mine in next week I have a rattle in my steering column and a bad squeak when i go over a speed bump. I thought the speed bump squeak was just because the car was cold in the mornings. Hmmmm we shall see.
Find this interesting as my wife's 06 which is out of warranty
(40 months @ 36,400 miles) has developed a low frequency
hum in the front and, the turn signal switch doesn't return
"home" 50% -60% of the time. Curious if this is related. May
call the dealer and ask the question. Probably should have
bought an extended warranty.

Thanks for the input. Don't know much about the HHR.
