GM Warranties
GM Warranties
Does anyone have the straight story on warranties for GM cars (Chevymgr? hint, hint...)? I've heard everything from all warranties are null and void as of this morning, to GM will continue to honor them and plans to do so after the "new GM" emerges from bankruptcy. I have not been able to confirm anything yet.

Subject: Warranty Claim Processing
To: All General Motors Dealers - United States Only
Attention: Dealer Principal, General Manager, Service Manager, Warranty Administrator
This is to notify you of the steps Warranty Operations is taking in light of the General Motors bankruptcy filings taking place on June 1, 2009.
GM has requested that the filing will not stand as an impediment to our normal business processes and operations. GM has asked the court to enter orders ensuring that its business operations and processes are uninterrupted by the filing. These papers include a request that the company be permitted to honor all obligations related to warranty claims and processing. We expect entry of that order within the next few days, and if approved there will be no interruptions in payment. That said, there are some administrative hurdles we need to overcome to maintain certain claims submission processes. More specific information is below. Please bear with us and pardon any delays or extra steps as a result of this process.
Until GM receives approval from the court, warranty claim processing will be temporarily suspended. This affects the US only, MIC, ACDelco, Electronic Service Centers, IPC, Medium Duty, Fleet/Commercial, Saab, and Saturn. It does NOT affect Global Warranty Management operating in AP, LAAM or Mexico. This will be effective Monday, June 1, 2009. Please cascade to others in your organizations as appropriate.
