Considering the Chevy Orlando and GMC Granite share the same platform as the Cruze, and both positioned as a tall car/wagon thingy, its about as close to the HHR replacement we will get, albeit without the retro styling.

The Granite is not a direct replacment. The HHR market only had two cars and one is already gone. The entire market moved on to Soul and Scion like cars.

The seat will not make production and you have only seen a show car.

The V6 would not fit the HHR. Heck the 6 Speed tranny would not have fit unless they changed the pan and recrash tested the car.

The HHR has done it's job and a replacemen away from the market would be a big gamble. At least the last time GM gambles the retro thing was in full force. Retro is now on the way out.

GM just is not like it was before where you are going to see the new stuff 5 years ahead any more. We will only see the new stuff 5-6 months ahead unless it is something they want seen or we already know about like the Volt.

In the next 5 years you will be shocked at some of the changes coming. Not only cars but engines.

The Granite doesn't appeal to me. But the Terrain may well be what we replace our HHR with. It doesn't get half bad mileage.

The Orlando shares the Cruze's Delta II platform, the Granite shares the new, 2012 Aveo's Gamma II platform. The Granite will be about the size of an HHR, the Orlando is a little bigger than the Cruze (it seats 7). The Granite, if produced, will be more of an UUV (Urban Utility Vehicle) aimed at 20-something urbanites who need something to get the groceries home from Whole Foods.
