HDTV help please.
Also, it's good to watch some of the cheap top-tiers. The cheaper Sony TVs that aren't at least the "Bravia" models are all just rebadged low-end TVs, like the "Sony" you will find at Walmart.
for anyone trying to shop at CC, don't do it. Our store liquidated and was gone before x-mas. You could say ours was a "test" store for closing down (one of the first 150 to go).
When the liquidators take over they jack the prices up and then make it look like you are getting money off. By the time the percentage is decent and you are saving money all of the chumps have already went in and got anything worthwhile. Didn't help that our CC was one of the smallest I had ever seen, service was horrible, and it was literally right next door to best buy. Their parking lots were connected...
my theory for this, is for everyone in the world, and would only work if everybody does it. If a store i closing (it's already planned out and going down), or if it's an after x-mas sale, don't go run over and buy something, wait it out. Then the prices will come down more, then save some real money. Obviously this will NEVER work. But still..

Even though I didn't really like CC, it was nothing to do with them anymore. Most likely liquidators have bought the stock off of them and they are trying to make as much money out of it. They have the idea of "swindle" and "scam" down to an art since that's all they do. They say it's a big sale, jack prices, give you a small percentage money off, and the chumps go for it.
On engadget people had posted that there were problems as a lot of stores where the weekly ad they were supposed to have actually went out still (which none of it counts now) and the sales they were supposed to have were much better then what the liquidators were offering.

You are right about the chumps, The parking lot was packed and the lines at the registers where long....
I would suggest that anyone thinking about a big ticket item do a little comparison shopping before purchase as ALL SALES ARE FINAL is written on the receipts, and you can find better prices at regular retail stores that will take it back if it fails.
I personally like Sony. I have a 55" sxrd dlp in the lving room and a 42" Bravia lcd in the bedroom and love them both. Before I settled on sony I did research on competing brands. Compared reviews on bestbuy/amazon, took notes and then went to store for 1st person viewing. Before the 42" in the bedroom I had a 32". Wanted to up grade so I bought a 40" m series bravia. 3 weeks later best buy had a sale for a 42" v series for $100 more. My lesson was watch the adds carefully!
Best Buy is trying to sell it's "set up service", this is not the installation, rather setting up the parameters on the set, they say it saves energy, looks better and will add life to the the LCD.
Is this possible, or just a gimmick?

It's possible. It's a calibration service that dives into the "technician only, secret" service menu on the set and adjusts brightness and color settings to bring out the best picture given the viewing enviroment. Dimming a light bulb saves energy and decreases heat, while extending life. Same princple with a marketing tweak.
