Health Care Cost

My dad retired a year ago at the age of 62. He had 3 years free healthcare with the company which would have gotten him to Medicare age of 65. Unfortunatley, the company is closing its doors at the end of the month and now he is left without coverage. After much research, no company will cover him because he is diabetic. The only company that will is Blue Cross and that is Hospitalization only. So for the next 2 years he has to pay all of his own prescriptions. He's looking at around $11,000 (for prescriptions only) per year . Thankfully, he had a nice pension and 401 but he still was not planning on having to shell out this extra money. Anybody else in this kind of situation?

My parents are. It's ridiculous to me the way the insurance companies and government have handled healthcare. My dad had bypass surgery 7 years ago and is in the best shape of his life, but cannot change insurance because no one wants him. Worst part is, he has tried everywhere, even government plans don't want to cover him. He's Fixed now, his rates should have been higher before his surgery.
