Thanks for all the ideas.......short of setting it on fire or painting it all blue, my son has calmed down a bit. He's taking it to the insurance company tomorrow for a look see and some referrals to different shops for estimates. I just don't see how they'll ever get that out of the carpet. The doors, maybe, the carpet.....it's a nice hard shiny blue!

Try VM&P Naptha from the Home Depot or Lowes paint department. It's a petroleum based product that is relatively inert (won't damage most plastics) and low odor.

As for the carpeting, DON'T go to the dealer! You can get a good aftermarket carpet much cheaper. I looked into replacing the carpet in my 94 Suburban cargo area. The dealer wanted $1100, but an aftermarket carpet was about $299. Summit Racing carries a variety of aftermarket carpets (that are molded to fit). make sure you get a MOLDED, custom-fit carpet with the proper cutouts or you'll go crazy trying to install it. One of the good carpet companies is ACC (Auto Custom Carpets).

Are you shure he didn't really want a blue interior? If worse come to worse, start looking in the junk yards. You might just find the pieces to replace the blue ones. Or look on our favorite place to find parts when we had our MGB. EBAY!!! Worht a try and much cheaper than the dealer.

Before you try any chemical/cleaning solution, try a small ammount on some remote area to test the effects of it. As someone said earlier, be careful as you might cause even more damage.

I realize that what has happened is sad...I know I'd be devastated...but the comment about being a smurf is hilarious. Thanks for the afternoon chuckle.
