Arrow HHR chief designer shipped off to China.

Well the chief designer of the HHR Brian Nesbitt is being promoted(demoted)and shipped off to China. Something tells me he won't be seeing any of his creations roaming around the streets of Shanghai. Link follows.

That's not surprising as GM is more profitable over there. Buick was the #1 import for China a year or so ago. They love the Aveo's too.

Mao loved Buick's, now Chinese corporate climbers LOVE Buick's too.

Maybe we can get a retro Buick out of this deal...

He has only ever done two retro cars. Brian has a lot of tallent and I suspect he is being groomed for Wellborns job when he retires. Brian has been moved around to many of GM's markets a sign he will be moving up to higher levels in the future.

Retro for the most part is over. We will still see traits of retro in the new cars but nothing as much as the HHR or SSR.

Well if they were to bring out a new Chevvy Nomad 55, 56 or 57 look alike, i would buy it no matter where it was built! Then again i may have to think more carefully about that, but Damn it, why did they not build it. We have the Dodge Magnum and i have one, but a Nomad would be awesome.

OOps! did not noticve this was an old thread!

I think you are safe as there is not going to be a retro Nomad.

Car wagons as a whole are going to be pretty rare since few sell well in this market right now.

It is all about small cross overs and small SUV's right now. Americas love for the wagon has declined to near nothing. Make it look like a truck or a SUV even car based and people are all over it. The HHR is a prime example. If it was a Cobalt they would have not even sold half of what they did as the HHR.
