Maybe I'll be wrong though. I can only hope!
It's just "other" parts to replace. This old Comet has had a lot of things replaced. She just shopped wisely and kept receipts.

That's true though... I just don't get how that car is that reliable. I mean my truck is great and all, but it DOES break down... There isn't really any way to get around that. I don't know how hers doesn't.

Maybe she shopped at Autozone or Murray's for the lifetime replacement for the parts she bought!

It takes dedication to make a car last that long. Unfortunately, most people follow the 'Flavor of the Month' so once the buzz wears off a new design, it's discarded and replaced with the latest.

Seriously here, how many REALLY expect to still own their HHR's in 20 years? 30?

I still have the 86 Dodge Van I bought in 88, and the 68 Chevy Van I bought in 79.

Seriously? Well, I'm going to try. Not going to say I will, besides, you never know what might happen (accidents or natural disasters, or whatnot)... But I'd really like to think that I might. My goal is to get the HHR paid off, then buy a convertible, and keep driving the HHR for a long time. So long as I can keep it, I will.

See? That's what I'm talking about. You get a vehicle that for whatever reason, you can just see yourself owning forever.

Those two vans, and my HHR, are not going anywhere.

I think I heard someone had an older model (not sure what year) Chevy Silverado Half-ton Pickup (with a gas engine, not a diesel) with over a million miles. He was already on his fifth transmission, and the miles were so high that the odometer started over.

If it's old enough, the odo's used to roll over at 100,000 miles.

I remember when my mother parked her 71 Charger because it had turned over 50,000 miles and she figured it was about dead.

I think they changed it in 88. I had an '83 that started over at 100,000 but my '88 won't start over until 1,000,000
