Did you have one of the "Loewy Coupes" (Starliner/Starlight), or the standard body? I loved the look of the '53 Hardtop Coupe I had, but that 6 cyl. engine w (as only like 85 H.P.
I think they "Raised" it to 101 in '55! But that was enough to get around back in those much calmer times when the roads weren't racetracks. 
Wish I had that car now though. That body style would be worth a few bucks now.Mine was a 4-dr sedan, flathead 6, 3 on the tree, and my favorite feature....the Hill Holder Clutch!!! (BTW: top speed was about 50mph
not good for a 16 yr old looking to drive on the highway)

Oh yeah! I forgot about that Hill Holder Clutch! That came in handy on the hilly streets back in Albany, NY. I had the 3 speed too, but it also had an overdrive which probably helped the top speed a bit. But, back then, (pre-freeways) the Highway speed limits in NY were 50/55 as I recall.
Boy! that was a long time ago! It was 1955/56 when I had that Studebaker.

That's a '54 Chevy. Last year for that body design. Complete change on the '55 pickups. Hard to tell on that other pic. Most of the panels and pickups of that vintage looked the same back then, and with no headlights and other mods being done there's not much to pin point.
