IMHO, regardless of how we may judge the past, the American Indian needs to quit making excuses and take part in humanity. In a modern world there is absolutely no reason to subsidize a 'race' for any reason!

And as I tell my Black friends, acquaintances and associates, if you want to go back to Africa, go! I'll pay your way! Africa is still the ONLY continent on earth where slavery is common place even today! Besides, all 'Blacks' are NOT of African decent!

We have a sub culture in this nation that depends on government handouts for their very existence. They indeed are SLAVES...to the government!

The so-called 'tribes' in Massachusetts are mostly made up just to take part in the ability to not be taxed. This is REAL old news!

Besides, the American Indian took the land from someone....they are immigrants just as we of European decent are.

Hell! There are politicians that think just because they have 'high cheekbones' they are of Indian decent!

Native Americans deserve a perk or two. Being relocated forcefully from your homeland is no small deal, especially when your life revolves around that land. I'm not for reparations, but the alienation these people feel deserves this kind of break. Leave 'em alone. If they are profitable, that's fine. They owe us nothing.

Must be a very interesting and thought provocing topic.

As of yesterday, this thread was DEAD 4+ years ago. Not bad. Might be a record for this forum.

Most forums have rules and close threads that are more than 6 months, 1 year, 2 years....or whatever.

It is. I am glad I got to contribute even if someone had to dig it back up and reanimate it.

I say leave the American indians alone. I don't waste $$ at casinos (Indian or mafia Las Vegas). If states want to tap the Indian casino wealth, insure those that cross into the Indian territory have a passport as they are traveling into a "foreign" nation. The casino funds should be used to help their own people, but tribal warfare still exists and one tribe refuses to help another.

The thought that someones great great great grand parents were "forced" to move some land in some state has no bearing on life today.

My great grandfather fought in the civil war for the union, should I be entitled to some funds for his effort? My father fought in WW1, where is my benefit for his effort? I was in Vietnam, where is my military pension for my effort?

Just like some blacks who feel entitled to reparations because their great great great great grandparents were slaves.

It is time to move on.

My dad did WWII and Korea and Vietnam, He got a dam good pension (full pay grade + medical for 33 more years), but then he did the whole 33 years (and there was a Vietnam Era extra in there somewhere). Maybe you forgot to read the contract?

Anyway, I got somewhere under the threshold of Native American in me, so I get squat out of the casinos. But, I also get to go into them, unlike the "full blood". The real RES you do need a pass to stay alive, if for some weird reason you Wanted to be on the RES, it's not a pretty place to be.
