Indianapolis 500
Indianapolis 500
Is anyone even interested in open-wheel racing in the U.S. anymore?
Ah well. The Indy 500 starts in a half an hour, just curious to hear who folks like in the race. Myself, I have to follow my gut (just like I did the last couple of years) and back Danica Patrick, mainly because she's got better equipment this year and, I feel, a legit shot. (unlike the other two women in the race, Sarah Fisher and Milka Duno)
Tough field ahead of her in the starting grid, but I like her chances.

This may or may not be a long shot because I don't follow open wheel except for this race. My money's on Marco Andretti after seeing what he did last year, but I would love to see Danica win.
Thankfully found the Buffalo radio station with the 500!
First wreck of the race and two of the women are on the lead lap (Danica in the top 10 and Milka Duno in 22nd), looking really good for a good showing. Wonder what the deal is with Helio's car not taking fuel?

Stickin' with Danica, though.
I thought Indy Car racing was great back in the late 40s thru the mid-60s until the Roadster style cars started losing out to rear engined V8s.
I thought the Kurtis-Kraft and Watson built Roadsters ( and a few others) from that time were beautiful too see, and the 4-Banger Offenhauser Engines were music to the ears! I loved the Midgets and the Sprint cars also, until they started hanging Wings and other crap on them.
All this "Technology" has caused me to lose interest in open wheel racing!
I used to like the Indy 500, never missed it on the radio, TV or in person. First it was the Indycar/CART battle, then Tony George turned it into a spec series, all the same chassis's, engines, etc. That and the computers took all the innovation out of it. It just doesn't register with me anymore, and I like motorsports! No I'll wait and watch/listen to the cup race.
