glad to hear no one was hurt in the incident.

i have 2 9mm's. one in the computer desk(locked so my 2yr old doesn't get it) and the other is in my dresser drawer(too high for my daughter to reach) and 2 .22 6 shooters in my closet(hung in the holsters so my daughter can't get them).

"For home defense a 12 gauge shotgun with 18" barrel (no choke) and buckshot is the preferred choice. It offers better chance of hitting the threat (spread pattern of buckshot) and over penetration into neighboring residences is less likely."

Absolutely correct. 12 ga Ithaca Lightweight with #1 buckshot is our choice. A pump is nice, proven by the one time I needed to confront an intruder, all it took was the sound in the dark of a round being racked in place and the guy took off running.

Mac 11 semi auto is my weapon of choice, though i don't know crap about guns, and the one I owned was not registered to anyone and the paper trail behind it was not so great either. I felt that it was better off in my hands then in the hands of some criminal. I used to shoot it pretty often until I moved to the city then I was too scared to get caught with it.

ALSO Glad to hear you and yours are okay, good thing you were home and it was just some crack head lady and not a few bad dudes.

Sounds like a very scary situation and glad that no one was hurt. One question, was the door locked? We live in an extremely small town but because my mom is deaf/mute grew up with the doors always being locked even during the day for her safety.

She would have been dead in my house. Like I said in the other thread, all of my kids and my wife are very good with a gun. I live in the not so good part of town, and home invaisions are quite common around here.

Just remember if you shoot the person make sure they land well in your own home and not on the porch or the Neighbors House.
