I once was so bored that I actually read the ISO9006 guide. It is mostly about accounting, and having handling documents on everything on hand not actual safety.
I get a giggle every time I see a local car dealer touting ISO 9006 certified. So what! Lots of unread brochures in the broom closet.

Having dealt with the bureaucracy around ISO, and the panic for every company and organisation to be ISO Certified, I came away so less impressed.
So many companies paid some serious $'s to become ISO Certified - and now one hardly sees any reference to their certification.
We had a cleaning solution that was totally innocuous at work, yet when one of the staff noticed it wasn't ISO C'd and raised an issue over it - man, people panicked and went into overdrive to get it ISO-Certified!!!! In the end, the certification end said it really really wasn't a problem at all. But at least months later, after spending who knows how many $'s were spent taking it all the way thru the bureaucratic tape, we had the Certificate!!! All for nothing, except for lining the ISO company's pockets.

The same can be said of the Fair Trade certification. Fair Trade is supposed to mean all profits go to the local farmer or merchant. To the Fair Trade Certifiers that means the local farmer or merchant gets all profits that are left after certification.
