If you ordered something that is going to take 2 or 3 minutes to finish, for whatever reason, and there is someone behind you who's order is complete I can see asking you to move up to a holding area. If there is no one behind you in line at all it's BS as they are just trying to maintain their record of the time it takes to serve each customer at the drive up.

The local Taco Bell has a huge clock over the drive up window and when it reaches something like 1:20 it starts to blink and sets off an annoying chime. It basically goes off for every car in line at lunch!!!

The local Chick Fil A has a sign at their drive up worded "We mooved 100 cars yesterday between 12 -1 at our drive up" and they change the number everyday. It's never less than about 90 and usually is over 100.

Which FF place has service right??

I liked the McDonalds I went to in Detroit at the Renaissance Center... It said average customer serve time, 50 seconds. Sadly, that's just the computer end of it..... That's how long it takes them to enter your order and print your receipt.

Out here in the socal, In and Out Burger is the longest drive thru..well worth the wait. As far as Hardee's goes, I used to go there 20 years ago in Virginia, moved to socal, and fought out that Carl's Jr. started the whole Hardee's thing. Just a little piece of worthless info LOL, Todd (Uma)

lol

When you guys talk about Hardee's, it sounds like you're referring to a classic good ol' American burger stop. Then I remembered it's just the Carl's Jr. of the east coast. Yeah, in Cali, Carl's Jr. has us do that all the freakin' time as well. I would say it occurs about 4 out of 5 visits.

More annoying drive thru tales

Hope I don't get jumped on for going off-topic on this, but what really annoys me at drive thrus just happened again last week. Ordered the soup and sandwich combo, got all the way to my office, went inside and no napkin or spoon for the soup. Had nothing available so I had to go to the restaurant below me and ask to borrow a spoon. Very tacky. I will never understand how it isn't Restaurant Management 101 to provide the estentials and also have the employees park far away from the parking spots to be used by drive-thru customers.

That IS Management 101. The worker/peon screwed up. Report it to the management while expressing your extra troubles, on your next visit to the establishment. Remember, you can't fix it....if you're not aware it's broken.

GDZHHR....I do undertand your irritation but I'd just go to another establishment, if it bothers you. I personally, think it's crazy to stand in line at a fast-food establishment. I mean geez, this isn't Chef Andre' 5 star culinary exercise. There's plenty of fast-food places. Although, I will admit.....many times the drive thru has 3-4 cars and the inside counter has 1 or 2. It's faster and easier to park and order inside than to go thru the 3 stops of the drive thru line.
