had that done on the left ..... 2004 which i knew i would eventually would have to do after the head on in 96 ..

which wasnt normal...... due to the plate that was inserted in 96 to attached the bone in the back of hip socket back.. after the femer went through it. It wasnt cemented i had to wait till the bone grew to the replacement. before i could walk on it.... about 3 months.

I have not personally had it done--but I play Tennis and many of my Club's members have had either one or both knees done...

Every single one (and there are at least 6 that I know of) have had GREAT Success.. They all say that the feel better than ever and wonder why the Dr. waited so long to suggest the procedure...

2 of my good friends had both knees done--and were back playing tennis in 6 months--and now run faster than ever..

pretty amazing stuff..

Good Luck!!

due to my age.....54.. if i and when i get them done, i have been advise that being an electrician (35 years) is over. due to the ladders and excess on the knees.

I guess thats the biggest reason for hesitating,

2 at work have had partial knees done in the last 6 months. A friend with a replaced knee fell and twisted the insert spike, they plated him and he is off his feet for 3 months.

Me, I am a full elbow replacement from an on the job injury. Without that my elbow might move 20 degrees with no wrist turning. I now have maybe 50 degrees bending with close to 90 degrees rotation, but the best benny from it is "no pain" I may get another vacation for another surgery this year due to scar tissue removal. Will be surgery #6 for me.

I had my right knee "resurfacing" is what the Dr told me he did on Oct 3rd still not right. He ground down the arthritic part of the bone and cemented in a prostetic. Everytime I walk I feel clicking under my knee cap, and the back of my knee has extreme pain if I try to bend it too far. So far I can bend 96 degrees. I am going thru pt and the pt tech told me my knee will only bend so far and then it is frozen. I think the dr will have to put me under and he will bend it. Ouch! I am going to request an xray on Monday when I see the Dr something is not right. I can only walk a short distance then I have pain up and down my leg. It hurts more now then it did before the surgery!

This topic makes my think of my Mom whom I think is about due for surgery. She gets periodic cortisone shots to ease the pain, but the each time the pain relief that she gets from it becomes less with each injection. The Doctor has been talking about surgery for 3 years now, so I have to wonder why the delay? her age (76) or insurance converage (navy retiree's spouse)?

Good luck on your surgery HHR4JK, keep us uptodate on your progress when you get it done

Knee

Hey, had my right knee replaced Sept 19, 2006, its the first time I've been pain free in twenty years.. Doctors would not replace it back then because of my age (only forty) and my weight (about 280).. Its to bad, missed out on alot of things that would have liked to do...Bottom line, get it done as long as you have a good Orthopedic Surgeon, there are a few quacks out there !!!
Good Luck !!
