That is werea Living Will starts,,,,If you do not have anything...You will be hooked up to any and all machines until a family member takes it to court and gets a court order to disconnect life support.

And this happens more than you think!!!!!!!!!!!!

It does not matter how old you are, or how young you are...............
If this is your wishes PLEASE GET A LIVING WILL STARTED have a copy with your family, and a legal consul.

Also get a DNR paperwork started.

Karen, what's a DNR?

When my dad was dying of pancreatic cancer, he asked me to "pull the plug" if they tried to keep him alive. He was old school, and didn't understand that I could not do that. Of course i told him I would, and thankfully he died at home without the need for that. I am so thankful for Hospice, they were great.

JX3... if the "living Will " is done correctly the DNR goes beyond the "normal" recognised procedures. It also, can regulate how life saving precedures are administered.....drugs, artficial resporators, etc. under specified conditions, when you are in a vegetative state.

Karen.....

Question for you..... Read an article that medical facilities are not legally bound to follow these written wishes. However, most do. The article said that it is not a matter of life or death, but more to the legal issue of being involved. So, some may deny the DNR. Do you know of this?? Is it true, to your knowledge??
