I am so pissed. As usual I have been unable to get on the site sense I posted this thread. Must have tried 20 times. Was really looking forward to some input from you guys. I am so tired of this happening. You would think the site administrators would give a crap? But they don't. It is really starting to wear thin with me.

I wanna thank all you guys that gave me a little input.

I eventually chose to go with the Canon T1I. I don't think I'll used the video much but there was enough other things that won me over.

* Higher resolution sensor (15.1 vs 12.2 effective megapixels)
* Extended ISO range up to ISO 12800
* HD video capability
* New 3.0 inch 920K pixels screen
* Adjustable noise reduction and highlight tone priority
* Face Detection in Live View
* Peripheral Illumination Correction
* HDMI output
* Larger buffer in continuous shooting
* Digic 4 style menu design

These are all updates over the XSI, most of them coming from the 50D. While they may not be big changes they are enough to get me to go for the T1I over the XSI. The only concern is the small body, my hands are big and my pinky doesn't sit on the body. If I didn't have the lenses already I'm pretty sure I would have gone with the Nikon D5000. Really like the way it fit in my hands and most of it's features were in the same ball park.

now just make sure to get a really good memory card. Your camera can only be as high speed as your card.

I have the Sandisk Extreme III 20mbs 8gb card. They make one faster that does 30mbs (although you won't get that speed often) and I got a good deal on mine and it would have been 3 to 4x the cost for the next step. Highly recommended.

You'll have to post some hi-res, hi-ISO images. A lot of reviews of these new mega-megapixel cameras are trashing them on noise from the lack of processing power for the higher pixel count CMOS sensors they're throwing in the cameras now.

yeah, agreed. More megapixels isn't always a good thing. Eventually you go past the capacity of your censor and it starts to actually degrade the images.

IMHO, a 50 MM fixed bright lens for indoor work and a 70-210 MM or 70-300 MM tele for outdoors is a good basic kit.
With both at 50mm F/2.8, the Tamron performs better than the Canon prime. I've never had any problems shooting at F/2.8 indoors while flash-less. If it's too dark, I'd prefer to use a flash anyways. The depth of field @ F/1.8 is too shallow for indoor use (assuming you're taking pics of people)

Also, 50mm prime with 1.6x crop factor = 80mm, hence why you'd want a 17-50 kit, to get an effective 35mm or 50mm focal length.

Thanks for the advice twistman about the card. I have a slower 4g card to get me started. The camera should be here today or tommrow. Gonna serch ebay for a good deal on one this weekend.

I think I have also decided to get a battery grip for it. It will give me more room for my hand, make the camera more stable with longer lenses and two batteries for power. Unfortunately it will add 8oz.to the weight of the camera, but it comes off very eaisly. ebay sells some knock off's for about $6o and Canon,s go for around $125. I'll have to reserch the knock-offs.

Link to the Canon battery grip which fits both the T1I and XSI: (http://www.the-digital-picture.com/R...ip-Review.aspx)
