My opinion of him being an idiot is based solely on my point of view (I cannot stand animal cruelty). If Vick were simply some schmuck in a small town, my opinion would still be the same. For that matter, you could take any of my favorite athletes/celebrities/etc and if evidence were revealed showing them to be involved with activities like what Vick is facing, I'd be condemning them as well (keeping in mind the concept of "innocent until proven guilty").

 

You've never watched slaughterhouse footage have you B/B? They don't electrocute or shoot animals. It's a slice to the throat or a bolt to the head. Quick and humane......or at least as humane as you can be for killing an animal. I don't hate Vick. I think the man is a complete moron for jeopardizing millions of dollars on petty criminal activities that he doesn't need to be doing just to keep it real and maintain his street cred. And while yes it is America where you are innocent until proven guilty the evidence isn't in his favor. It's like if you get home early from work one day to find your wife in bed with the mailman. Are you going to believe she's innocent?

But, let me just say that, unless he was raping my wife... I pretty much would have to look at her actions and decide if she is worth keeping or left her go home with the mailman.

Sorry B/B! If it was the wife thing I didn't mean anything by it; I was just using an example and maybe a bad one at that. If they were dog fighting which is bad enough yes I would prefer them to have put the animals down in a better way like a shot to the head or a slice to the throat. You've already made the animal suffer enough so why torture it in it's last moments of life? I'm just having a hard time with you defending Vick because you and I see eye to eye on a lot of topics. I'm no PETA freak or anything like that (I believe most of their crap is propaganda) but IMAO no matter how you look at it dog fighting is wrong regardless of who you are.

 

I 100% agree CH. I could understand if their was no evidence or anything but did you see the feds. dragging awany all the evidence? The evidence is against them. If this were anyone I would feel the same not matter who they are. B/B you think I'm against him b/c he is Mike Vick but that is absolutely untrue. I think he is a great athlete but is an idiot who ultimately will never win a superbowl or even come close. He does not have any leadership and is a coach killer. If the season goes bad it's the coach's fault not Vick which is totally untrue. Lets face it Mike Vick could not get the job done with an unstoppable o-line and two great running backs with a great defense. If he can not win with that then he will never win. You need more than a 4.20 time and throw the ball deep to win. Besides how many years do you think he has left? When all the physical skills are gone then what is left? This guy will not be a Brett Favre and develop great passing skills. He is a mediocre qb. BTW anyone who says he lead the falcons to an nfc championship can look at kordell stewart to see what happened when his physicals went. Vick will never be a great legendary qb.

 

CH - I think anyone can see that you were not talking about anyones wife in particular, just making a general statement.


BB- Take Vick out of the picture...you are fine with dog fighting and the way that anyone would treat these animals in the manner that they were killed?

I don`t dogfight, I don`t own a dog, I don`t know Vick from Shmick...
I came across a thread, with people full of venom against a guy for whatever personal reason.
Plenty of animals are killed daily, for the enjoyment and pleasure of humans, take lobster, boiled alive, held captive in a tank, 'may' even understand it`s fate, watching a HUMAN pick it for it`s next meal...
If we domesticated lobsters, you couldn`t eat them, plain and simple.
That`s what the big bruhaha is all about, you see (some people) your dog as an equal, treat it like your very own kid (again, some people..), so when you read/hear something like this, you want blood, you want revenge, you want this guy to suffer like your little FiFi /Fido would..
There are places that eat the animals we`ve domesticated, get over it...

 

make similar comparisons...your posts dont make sense. There are laws against dog fighting, no one has made any laws against killing cows and sea creatures, etc for food. Now if they (government) makes eating lobster illegal, those who commit that crime should also be punished.

The big bruhaha is that Vick might be involved in something illegal. He broke the law and if found guilty he should be punished.

We are talking about local issues here, not something done in other countries.

 

Yeah...dogs aside. What about the illegal gambling operation he was running? It wasn't just for sport but for profit. I know we all bet on games or play cards but we don't run gambling rings. Or at least I don't. Casinos, horse/dog tracks, and OTB are a different deal because they are licensed and tax paying.

 

Well at least we`re starting to pin down what people don`t like about Vick`s activities, they`re illegal , and he made a possible profit, and if the gov. made other things illegal, you`d want prosecutions also...
Now, the other thing I`m hearing is, if the investigators can get enough stuff to carry out for the photo op as they leave the scene, that`s almost a sure conviction.

I now see how this country got mixed up in trying to run other countries around the world... hype/fear mongering. The "Beware of Vick" sign was a sure clue. Sure was easy to lower him to 'Dog' status.
PS. I`d thrown the speeding/street racing thing in the mix, because a couple weeks/month ago, it was a great idea to confiscate street racer`s rides.. people are quick to give/take, rights/privileges away once the GOV. deems it illegal.
