I believe they do that. They quit supporting it long ago, no secret there.. They kick out upgrades to newer versions about every 2 to 3 years.

Support for Win7 ended last month... Now they start working on ways to kill it.

My personal opinion, not claiming to be 100% ...
Win7 is good, but outdated. Vista - unfinished, raw product.
Today Win10 is the most optimal, although it is much larger in volume than Win7.

I am using Win7 on my home laptop. And I do not care that there is no support, I immediately turned it off when buying. Believe me, the world has not collapsed, the laptop is cheerful, with no signs of disease. I use Win7 because it takes up little space and for many years all the shortcomings have already been eliminated. In addition, my Win7 is licensed, which is not so common. Because I disabled support, Microsoft will not get to my computer and will not be able to spoil.
Half of the country generally uses a hacked Windows or generated keys without any support - no glitches.

It is believed that all Microsoft support is aimed at achieving 2 goals:
1. promote their own products encouraging users to spend more and more money;
2. to collect information about users in order to then sell it and make money, they know the legal methods inside the USA and are not concerned about the observance of the law outside the USA.
It is possible that this is true.

Geg- I agree that Vista was not as refined as it should have been. But it worked.
But going to Win 10 Pro is light years ahead in differences. And yes it is a bigger program, but that's a plus for me here.

I have not heard any horror stories from the millions of commercial users of XP that ended life 4 years ago, like the US Navy, the FBI, the Census bureau etc.
The limitations I run into are hardware related.

Windows 7 Pro can still get support if you can prove you have a small business.
1rst year $50
2nd year $100
3rd year $200
I assume they will also support Internet Explorer 11 if you prefer.

Yes, I have not heard of such cases either. Hardly something political or military.
Databases are in great demand among advertising companies, call centers, retail chains. They can be legally acquired under certain security conditions and the non-distribution of personal data.
