The Midas touch!
On the job training is a major part of it. Usually under the supervision of a master. But professional techs have to attend classes. The last dealer I worked at, techs were always being sent out to couple day, or one week classes.
Update...I asked him how they planned on flushing the fluid since.it has electric assisted steering and you'd have thought I showed him my Johnson. Complete loss of words for about 10 seconds while I stared at him. His reply "obviously we wouldn't have performed this service on your specific, vehicle". Well why did you suggest it needed to be done then? "its on a list of things we try to sell. At least he was honest about the sell job. "
I will say for Big O atleast they show you fluid samples and test strips to justify their suggestions. Notice I left out "your" in regards to the fluid samples. I did that because it is always possible for them to be crooked but they could also be completely honest. I do not know either way and don't want to suggest that they are being dishonest.
The belt and ps fluids are just like your expirience of the "usual milage based upsales" without actually looking.
