The same. Except now you'd have someone making $6.50 an hour putting together the car you drive 70 MPH down the freeway. That's comforting. Plus the government would have even MORE people to cover on health insurance. Woohoo!

Crafty....I don't believe that is exactly true, if you are trying to insinuate a potential defective product.

The HHR (among others) is built in Mexico. And the labor rates are grossly less than what is paid to a US or Canadian worker. So, while the HHR may not be the best assembled vehicle, it still surpasses the quality of some produced in the US.

I am not supporting foreign, or anti union behavior. I'm just stating an opinion and some fact.

True, but there's a difference in a living wage between the US and Mexico. There are factories around where I live that pay their workers minimum wage and you can tell by the low-complexity and overall quality of the products they produce. I think if you're looking for people that will stay with the company and are motivated to produce better quality work, you should pay them commensurate with their duties.

I wonder how much Ferrari and Rolls-Royce pay their workers?

Im not saying mini wage, im talking more "Normal" Like $15 to start and go up to $30 when u top out. Instead of this Crap were u walk in the door making $25hr+ full health care.

60% of health care being covered is decent. instead of 80%-100%. Spread the wealth and the Country is better off as a hole.

Not to mention if they paid closer to a decent scale. More Cars would come back to America thus more Jobs.

I'll have to have my wife call her cousin down the seabord. He's a middle manager/engineer at the Solstice plant in Wilmington. I'm wondering if guys like him are on the hit list.

Somehow I think the workers making Toyotas and Hondas in this country are making a pretty decent wage without the UAW involved and last time I checked the build quality of those cars was pretty damn good

That is an internal matter to GM...not sure how changing that is gonna spread the wealth.

I work in Massachusetts where Universal Health care is mandated.....so I went from having totally free health care as one of the perks for working at my company to being forced to pay for it. The owner of my company did not have a choice in the matter. So what he did was have the health care deducted from our paychecks and then puts in a special compensation to reimburse us for almost all that is taken out. One way to fight what those knuckleheads on Beacon Hill are trying to jam down our throats

I know it was a typo but the whole country is gonna go down a socialist hole with this spread the wealth concept

Dr. Evil: What is it now?
Scott Evil: No, I totally agree with you. Preparation H does feel good... on the hole.

Important GM Announcement Regarding AC Delco -- A Message from Doug Herberger, GMNA VP and General Manager-- GM Service and Parts Operations
Doug Herberger, GMNA VP and General Manager-- GM Service and Parts Operations 10/22/2008

Dear GM Dealer,

I want to inform you that GM will announce today that it is exploring a potential sale of ACDelco’s global business.

As you know, ACDelco is one of the most highly recognizable brands in the automotive aftermarket, and is a profitable business with a proven track record for providing high quality parts and services for both domestic and import vehicles – and has excellent growth potential.

So why are we considering the sale of this business?

Given the unprecedented times that GM and the auto industry are experiencing, we must continue taking the steps necessary to ensure the company survives this tough period, and emerge a leaner, stronger and more successful company. This means we have to weigh all of our options to determine what’s best for the long-term profitability and success of GM and ACDelco.

For ACDelco that means staying focused on our brand vision including being open to different ownership; one that is a good strategic fit with ACDelco’s value proposition and offers the right resources and freedom to more aggressively pursue the independent aftermarket. And for GM, the sale of ACDelco is an important step in plans to bolster the company’s liquidity.

This was a tough business decision, but a necessary step to help GM and ACDelco.

We do not know how long the exploration process will take, or what the outcome will be. But you can continue to count on the same support and high-quality offerings that you’ve always ordered from us.

Thank you for your continuing support of GM, our customers, employees and our parts and services.

Doug Herberger
