I stand corrected. It was another Roberta Flack song, "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", THAT was the song I was thinking of. It was first recorded by the Kingston Trio. (I always get "Killing me..." and "First Time..." mixed up.)

Anyway, "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" was recorded by the Kingston Trio and no one ever believes me!! It was recorded during the Trio's Capitol years. My late mother went to high school with Nick Reynolds sister, so we had a "connection." My parents used to fly up to San Francisco (we lived in San Diego) and go to the Hungry i to see them.

So I stand corrected on the song's name, but it was a big Roberta Flack hit and people to this day still don't believe me that the Kingston Trio first recorded it back-in-the-day!

 

I hear that song twice each Thanksgiving........When listening to the album with "Alice's Restaurant".
