I was given a 2013 Cruz as a Loaner Car on my last visit to the local GM dealer for some mechanical work on my Van.
The Cruze only had 14,000 miles on it.
Eco Model with auto 6 speed trans.
I drove it for almost a week so I had time to check it out.
A peppy little engine with OK gas mileage but as it turns out I had driven my neighbors 2013 Hyundai Elantra only a week earlier on a short trip.

Hyundai Pros;

+ It did better on gas mileage by 3.2 miles per gallon. Driven by me only so the same driver and conditions on each car.

+ Handled just a tad better .
+ Felt a little more solid.
+ Easier to operate Cruise Controls
+ Transmission shifting was flawless

Cons Cruze;

- The Cruze that year "2013" had the inside power door lock switches on the Center Dash Panel near the radio. A Pain...
A Terrible spot but they left no room on the drivers side arm rest area to put them.
- The 6 speed tranny was OK on the normal take offs but not so good around town with it's unpredictable shifting up and down with different throttle positions.
- There were some Controls on the overhead at Center of the windshield area that you could not see what they were for unless you could bend over somehow and look up at the same time.
To Me they were a Stupid Mistake.

I am not a Hyundai Fan and it was a fairly simple comparison but a bit disappointing to say the least.

I have not had an opportunity to look at the 2015 Cruze to see if they have made any changes or improvements to the issues I have mentioned.

I hope so....

I found this article about the Chinese version of the 2016 (next gen) Cruze. Overall body shape should be the same. My first thoughts about it's new look is that it look generic. Perhaps it will grow on me but right now I prefer the outgoing version. Currently you can get the Cruze with the 2.0l Turbo Diesel. Other articles are speculating that that engine should carry over but that is speculation on their partfrom what I can see.

To answer Silver Fox.
Yes they have made changes, none of those things are on the new cruze. the power window buttons are on the door now. To me the car really drives very nice. the car is getting about 28 mi to the gallon, she drives about half and half frwy and city, so not to bad :)

I was looking for that Buick since I never paid attention to notice one and the wikipedia lists a 2.0 TC engine with 260 ft lbs torque at 2000 rpm.....what!! That must be for the CDM or EDM more likely in the Opel? Pretty impressive if it's true.
