I see that situation as a good sign. Sounds like the salesman is eager for your business. By putting him off until Monday it shows him you are not impulsive and drooling "gotta have it now gotta have it now. LOL you may be drooling gotta have it now, that's fine, but the salesman doesn't need to see it. Its a poker game. Keep the poker face up and play your hand cool and calm.

True! that is what I was thinking myself.
I am trying to keep it as cool as a cucumber.I know that it will pay off in the end.
I like your idea about "holding off until the sweet deals on the 07s come around". That is a great strategy.
I am also going to spring the "Is there an Universal Studios employee discount/incentive?". I work there and a ton of dealers around town offer deals to the theme park industry employees around here.We got a lttle extra off on my 'Stang that way.

The game continues.....

Lone Ranger,

I did another "Quote Request" at the Chevy site as they now list the Premeire Edition LT.Last week it was not listed unless you went through all the options and chose the upgrades. This tells me that they are pushing to get rid of these. What do ya think?
I requested quotes from 5 more local dealers. One dealer is listed in our Universal Studios Team Members Benefits Program.$100.00 over list and they waive all fees.

"Most new vehicles $100.00 over Factory Invoice plus tax, tag and dealer fee of $498.55(excludes Corvette). Special discounts available on pre-owned vehicles - see General Manager for details"

Now I will see if any of these dealers offer me a great price that I can use as fire power with the current dealer I am dealing with.
Playing the game my brother.....

Unhappy I hate car dealerships....

So here is the deal with my current HHR sales situation...

I went to the dealer today and found out that the rebate is now $2,000.00 rather than last month's $1,500.00.So that is cool.
However, when it cme down to my trade they only offered me $500.00!
Even with the high mileage, the NADA book tells a different story...

So I told them that it was no deal. The salesman asked how far off the mark they were and I told him $2,000.00. He resubmitted the paper work to his boss and they basically said that they could not give me more as they only "make $200.00 off the HHR".Whatever.That is not my problem! My problem is the $500.00 offer they made. I said still no deal.I can not accept less than $2,500.00 for the Mustang no matter the price of the HHR SPE LT or any other model for that matter. So we walked out.

Well, I took all of this info and e-mailed it to the 3 other Chevy dealers in my area who have been beating dowm my cyber-door.Let's see what happens....
I am a little dissapointed but am glad that I did not give in.I may not have my HHR today, but I will get it.Either from the current dealer (if they give me what I want in trade) or from someone else.September is just around the corner so the '08s are coming and the dealers are gonna be looking to move the '07s and making deals.
Bottom line at this point is who ever gives me my trade value gets my business. $2,500.00 is not out of the question given that the NADA says I should get $3,525.00.I do not think I am being unreasonable.
Ah...the games dealers play.....

I think $2500 is very reasonable for your Mustang. They are just doing what they always do at first, trying to clip you for as much as they can. They are in business to make a profit and this is expected, they want to make max profit as anyone in business wants to. So don't get too p^ssed. Yet. Rebates plus some off sticker plus $2500 for your Mustang should be doable. If not by them, then by another dealership. The disappointment for you today had to be epic, though. It happens often early in the trade-in game, more so with high mileage trades.

You did right by letting them know where the money needs to be, though, to get your business. My prediction is they'll come around eventually. They've definitely got $2000 of wiggle room in an '07 HHR.

I agree 100%!
I also think that e-mailing the other dealers the price quote of $21,136.83 for this model was a good move.I don't think that dropping another $2000.00 is out of the question.Actually, dropping $2,500.00 is more like it since the rebates just went up $500.00.
Here is the e-mail that I sent out to other dealers today..

"I am looking for the Cappuccino Frost LT with cloth interior.
What kind of rebates/incentives are you offering (I work at Universal Studios)?
I received this offer from another dealer on July 30th. With cloth interior.

I do have a Cappuccino Frost Metallic HHR LT in stock the MSRP is $23,525.00 your price would be $22,536.83 MINUS a $1,500.00 rebate which brings this vehicle to $21,136.83 plus your taxes, tag and fees.

I understand that the rebate is now at $2,000.00 rather than the $1,500.00 stated in that offer.I was at their dealership this afternoon but walked away as they would only give me $500.00 in trade for my 2000 Mustang Coup w/ automatic trans.I checked the NADA listing and even with the high mileage I should expect to get more:

The car has normal wear and tear,no accidents, everything works, interior has no tears/stains,dash is in excellent condition, etc.I stated that the lowest I would take for my car would be $2,500.00.They would not reconsider so I said no deal.I would have left with the vehicle had they agreed to that trade.

What can you do for me?"

So hopefully this will get the sharks into a feeding frenzy.
You are right! I am a bit bummed over this but sorta expected it.Thanx for your advice and encouragement. The opera is far from over...
