True. Facebook and Google both have way more knowledge about you than where you are going at the moment. They know your friends, what you searched for, what you bought, etc.

Dealers were told about this over a month ago. I didn't post it because I knew the big brother posts would be abundant. However we started selling aluminum foil hats and now most of our OnStar customers are once again safe and secure.

Very true... but for me, if I can keep the information to a minimum, all the better.
I had a Facebook account for about a month. Kept having to adjust the security/privacy and I finally said the heck with it and deleted the account. Plus, I was getting WAY too much information about people that I didn't need or want to know.

Just posting here on this web site I am sure there are people picking this up. You are tracked by many on the web.

Every time you use you credit cards people know, you phone has GPS, Your calls can be picked up for key words, you are watched and monitored by everyone from Walmart and Home Depot to The American and Chinese goverments.

It is scary to just Google yourself and see what is out there. I have found my Autocross times. School records, where I live, how much I paid for my house, how much I make, how old I am, Car show results and awards I have earned, mentions of me in newspapers, etc.

I am a novice at this but I needed to find someone to buy a rare Pontiac part. I used some of my connections and got all the info I needed on this guy to get ahold of him and buy the part even with everyting unlisted.

How many who have their phone numbers blocked from caller ID know that it will still come up under a 1 800 number? It is hard to stay off the grid anymore no matter what you do.

At this point it is nothing to worry about if you are not doing anything wrong. But it is something to consider when you vote as if we elect the wrong people they can turn all of this against us and take away or rights in a Detroit second. With the voting record of many this is a concern for me. Some day a black Suburban may pull up in front of your house because you went to Church or voiced an opionion contrary to the one in office.

Just look at what has happened in Venezuela. Old Hugo started the old class warfare with the people and promised them everything. He got elected and then took nearly everything from everyone. I deal with a lot of Venezelans at work and many risk their freedom just to buy goods from the United States. There are limits on what and how much they can buy and they can go to jail if caught buying to many auto parts.

I am not a Foil hat wearer but I am a student of history and too many either never learned their history or sadly for got it and what could happen. Sometimes I think they don't teach history anymore for a reason.

In times like this we need Jack Bower. LOL!

They're all out to get us, and someone is always watching. I say make it interesting and put on a show.

Update to On Star-Change of Plans

In an email I received.... Guess the people/customers won by speaking out.

Recently we notified you that effective December 1, 2011, OnStar'są Terms and Conditions and Privacy Statement would be amended, and we provided a summary of those proposed changes along with the proposed Terms and Conditions and Privacy Statement for your review.

Based on feedback we have received, however, OnStar is not moving forward with those changes. Therefore, the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Statement that were in effect before we sent our notification to you will remain in effect. We apologize for any confusion or concern that this proposed update may have caused.

We appreciate your business and look forward to continuing to serve you as an OnStar customer.

Thank you,
Joanne Finnorn
