Very cool. I'm assuming O scale given the detail, but there was nothing to indicate the scale, who built this (individual, club?), or how many years it took.
When I was kid I had a small HO scale layout in the basement. In my early 20s I lived in an apartment and had a small N scale layout in a custom made box that had folding legs and wheels to move it into a closet when not in use.
I don't think many people are doing this stuff anymore. Like building model cars, it's getting to be an old guy thing.
