Cap, I've been thinking on getting that one too! Funny, right now I'm getting ready to sell off many thousands of DVDs but there is always room for more. I'll likely email you with a list in September.

I remember getting Ichi THe Killer years back and doing a late night show at our store of it, for those who are old enough. Later I got the prequel in anime form. Quite nice as well.

Any cool DVD renderings of The Story Of Riki yet? I only have a basic one.

I do have some pride in ownership of virtually every Kurosawa film ever made, though I'll be selling them off, and more importantly for the horror discussion, I still have my Japanese Evil Dead Laser disc. It contains the uncut masterpiece with the famed negative scratch lightning still intact!

It's the little things that make it all worthwhile

Thanks for the blood pack visuals. I may succumb, but since I dislike intensely BB and their ilk, I try to stay away. They are some of the great category killers of our time, along with Wally World.

I do not like proprietary editions of anything made for specialty retailers ( even the comic market stores like mine ).
It has all but killed the toy and action figure market since it frustrates completest everywhere eventually. Just last year I had over ten Optimus Prime variants to deal with

Anyway, I may go to the theater for the Zombie Halloween. I'll wait for your review

I have a Hong Kong bootleg, I don't even have the region 1 DVD. I held it in my hands at one point but put it back out of my love for Hong Kong bootlegs. They know how to properly bootleg a film! My Hong Kong The Beyond even has all the Sage Stallone, Rolling Thunder, and Grindhouse Releasing info on it even though I highly doubt it is an official release. If it weren't for the Hong Kong bootleg market some movies would never make it to DVD or VCD or see the light of day here in America. It's a good thing they do most everything in region 0. I love The Story of Ricky. What other film can you see a man strangle another man with his own guts?

Gotta agree with you on all that and more. I've got some stories for you on ALL that AND MORE I'll PM ya soon on some interesting stuff developing.............

Lately we've been revisiting the John Woo school of filmography with Hard Boiled and the Killer. Not to mention A Better Tomorrow(S). Lots of bodycounts in them and a LOT of psychological tortured in the Tomorrow series.
Sometimes I gotta watch Hannah Montana with my daughter to feel right about humanity afterwards

Oh, this puts me in mind of having a movie orgy (for me that means watching several in a row, so don't get excited)... Haven't ever seen an ichi anything before... where does one partake??

The thing I found funny about buying it at Best Buy is that I found it in the horror section. While Ichi does have tons of blood and violence I would hardly consider it a horror film. I think they just stuck it there because most people that recognize Takashi Miike here in America consider him a horror director thanks to his affiliation with Masters Of Horror and his popular films like Audition. Hell the man has directed everything from erotica to kids films. I like that Miike doesn't consider himself and artist but rather a film maker that's just doing his job. It keeps him from getting hung up on his films and becoming overly pretentious. The last I knew he was knocking off 5 or 6 films a year in Japan. He's made like 70 films since 1991 of just about every genre.

Ok, Captain, I know you are a senior member and I will probably have my head taken off for this, but what in the HELK does this have to do with HHR or than it has some of the same letters as Horror?

I think there is a Fangora forum somwhere that is looking for you.

Let the blood letting begin

It doesn't have anything to do with HHRs, that's why I posted in the lounge rather than an HHR specific section of the site. The lounge is for non-HHR related discussions like movies, sports, and music. Fangoria's forum sucks as does Rue Morgue's!
