I seen people on the expressway with those LED light bars lit up in bumper to bumper traffic at night.
Now if that isn't a macho thing correct me.
A pick up was made to be functional, not just a $50K toy.

I wish a Ferrari fit my budget, sadly it doesn't. Next on the list would be to find a road where I could take it up to the 200 MPH it is capable of doing.

 

I feel the same for an 800 + HP Hellcat , love to own one but why , I can’t drive it to it’s full potential, legally.

Yes, practical pickups are needed. Full length 8' beds. I have my '06 2500 Chevy that was my daily driver for years for the sign industry. Hauled more than my share of lumber, plywood and whatever else (3000#'s of concrete, anyone?). Try that in a minivan. There are those that buy pickups for a status symbol - that I can't figure out. Then there are those that buy them to work, like me. When I can't fit stuff into the HHR, the truck gets used. Else, I drive my HHR.

 

We have a friend that won't drive anything BUT a pick up truck. She says she feels safer in her Ram 1500, this is her 2nd Dodge Ram. 1st she traded when it hit 250K on the odo.
So I say, when someone spends their own money (or commits to the payments), that's their biz.

I understand her logic, that's fine.
So she needs one to feel safe.
It would be interesting to know if a lot of people feel the same way that own them in areas where pickups aren't used as a pickup was intended to be used by design.

 

I have heard many times someone will buy a pickup or large SUV as they feel they are safer in them.

And the market is pretty much forcing them on people by not producing cars.
