plasma?

does anyone know if you can lay down a plasma tv?? when they were trying to load my 50in they said that you could not , and they were gettn on my nerves tryn to load it by proping it up at an angle because it wouldn't stand up. they say the same about refrigerators , but it is not true. if you let it sit for a while all the oil will run back down and it will be fine. the reason i'm asking is that i think i'm taking it back , and it will load up easily if you lay it down in the box. also same question about a lcd , i think i'm gonna trade up. also the guy at Tiger sold me a 780p after i told him i wanted 1080p , told me i was getting a deal. they are trained to do this so they can sell the extended warranty. it's bunch of crap , and a bad way to do business. they better not charge me a restocking fee.

I have always heard that you cannot lay it down without ruining it.

If your taking it back - who cares if you lay it down? I used to work at an Audio Video store and I saw the crews do stuff with receivers and tvs (crt's mind you) that I would have broken them for sure. Nope. I might consult the manufacturers website to confirm - but if your taking it back - who cares.

what they can do with their $250 extended warantee , that i bought , but i want all my $ back. if i keep the warrantee they cannot say anything because it covers everything.even though thier salesperson was dishonest with me , i still do not really want to ruin the tv or pay a restocking fee. i asked him why the 1 he was trying to sell me for $250 was cheaper , and he didn't tell me that it was because it was 780p. i do want to teach them a lesson about trying so hard to sell those warantees. if they tell me they are going to charge me a restocking fee i may throw the tv down in the parking lot.but then they might not refund my warantee $.

You cannot lay down a plasma TV without risking damage, and most stores will not charge a restocking fee if you're doing an exchange. I can guarantee if those guys see you pull up and haul out a TV that's been laid down they aren't going to take it back. You aren't supposed to tip them over even 10 degrees. Extended warranties are also usually fully refundable during the product's initial factory warranty period.

How long have you had it? Most places give you like 10 days no questions asked if you are not happy. As far as laying it down, find someone with a pick up truck you know and buy him a six pack for his trouble.

It is 720p not 780p...and fwiw I had to lay down my 50" plasma in the back of our Vue to get it home. I know that goes against everything that has ever been said but no issues or damage at all. I guess the weight of the screen will supposedly make it crack but I spun the Wheel and got lucky I guess.

Not saying you should or should not lay it down...all I'm saying is that in my case I did lay it down and had no issues whatsoever

What brand did you get? A Panasonic or Samsung? I bought mine at CC about a month ago so I'm SOL if it takes a dirt nap any time soon lol

Oh and let me add about the warranty...I originally bought a Sony 46" Z4100 LCD and an extended warranty...2 days later I returned it still in the box so no restocking fee(if you did open the box you may get hit with a fee since they can't sell it as new) I also returned the extended warranty and did not buy one with the plasma..so all that to say that the warranty should be refundable...

I wouldn't lay that sucker down if you are returning it, they will find an excuse not to take it back, don't give them that option if they see you taking it out. Take it back and order from a reputable place like vanns.com out in Montana. They'll usually price match and you get free shipping and no sales tax. Their customer service is top notch and they'll take care of you. Not sure why Vanns isn't more widely known but they are awesome.
