Political threads are always weird. It seems like they either get locked or we all agree to disagree. It's a good thing I'm not a Democrat or a Republican. None of the blows to either side bother me. Both of the two main parties here in America suck in their own ways. I vote for whoever is the lesser of the two evils or whoever I think is a better politician whether they are Democrat or Republican. My choice of political affiliation sucks in its own ways too. I love my branch and I'll leave it at that. I still don't see what the president has to do with building refineries though? Maybe by trying to give oil companies even more tax breaks to build new refineries or something.

Hey Captain, I agree....as I posted way back in post #5 of this thread.

It would be nice for the "owner" of the topic to explain HIS statement. Or maybe it was just a "hit and run".

Do you disagree with what he (Mitt) said today about Hillary? Might not have been nice but he nailed it

Nope. I don't disagree. But I almost agree with that senior citizen from New Hampshire stating that he would never vote for a Mormon (I like Mormons, just not Mitt), and then refused to shake his hand. "Live Free or Die".

And as for "Cadillac", at least he bought nice drapes!

My goodness, eight pages later I finally can make a second comment!

Sindy, great avatar, by the way!

The reason I made my comment back on page one is I don't feel the people are running this country any more. I think big business is. And it doesn't help when the president has enormous ties to the major oil companies.

If I were the president of Enron, how many years would I be serving right now? But low and behold a close friend of our commander and chief gets off relatively easy for ruining many lives and families. But I believe God gave him the final punishment for his cruelty.

What we need is for the American public, every one of us, to sacrifice, to help this war effort like during WWII. Let's start with rationing oil. The same amount goes to every family. Wealth will have no influence. We all have to go to work to earn an income. Next we'll move to food and clothing items.

Maybe that will help everyone understand that any war requires sacrifice. United we stand, every one of us!

Sorry to say this, but that will not work. If every person got the same thing regardless of wealth and needs, it would be somewhat communistic to say the least. Also, if family X gets 10 gallons of gas per week, but only uses 5, do you know what's going to happen? They will sell their extra 5 for an absurd amount of money to family Y that needs 15 gallons of gas per week. It may help with the war, but Americans will be exploiting each other in ways much greater then ever. This civil unrest will result in total anarchy.

That is how a Commune is run, you know what that`s called, Communism.
Too bad it took you all day to come up with that idea, and actually think it was Democratic.
That`s pretty much how things start going when you let someone create a false war/enemy, and tell you that if you`re not scared you must be part of the problem.
Oh, and that you must support said war, to show your Patriotism.
PS. You do know the Constitution was written to protect the people from the Government, don`t you?

I think we all show our patriotism in different ways. I don't think you have to show blind devotion to be patriotic BB. Well maybe you do for some people to consider you patriotic. Hell to tell you the honest truth I've met very patriotic American Communist. I have actually got along fairly well with the Communist people I've met and had some decent political discussions. One of my really close buddies in high school was a card carrying American Communist. Communism gets the short end of stick because of all that ancient cold war BS. Not that I would want us to be a Communist country or anything. That would suck. It's kind of like how Hitler ruined all other branches of Socialism in American eyes because of his damn National Socialism. Try mentioning that you're a Socialist in a light bar room political debate and watch the responses. You're instantly a Nazi and it's not worth describing the intricacies of Socialism and the many differences in branches and wings nor get into why America would be a better place if we switched to a Democratic Socialist system. That's why I usually don't bring up political affiliation and why none of the Democrat/Republican BS bothers me. I'm patriotic as all hell but I'm sure my patriotism shows in different ways than other people. Like I feel my belief that we should take care of our many problems and economic troubles instead of helping other countries and forcing Democracy on a sand country is very patriotic but I'm sure tons of people would disagree. My patriotism goes to our forefathers beliefs and the country itself rather than the modern government or any politician.

It just seemed a little strange for someone, who just (at least in the last year) bought a new ride, and would come out and proclaim that they want everyone to have the same amount of nothing, and obviously they are ready to share their new ride with all their neighbors to show how serious they are...
Yeah, Right...

Huh??? Where did he mention the "D" word?? Think you are putting words into his mouth there

and tell you that if you`re not scared you must be part of the problem.
Has anyone ever said that to you? I think people have stated reasons why they are concerned over today's enemy (shadowy terrorists) and their ability to harm us. On the other hand most of the talking has been from you insinuating that we are just a bunch of paranoid whack jobs who are afraid of our own shadows

You do know the Constitution was written to protect the people from the Government, don`t you?
Damn straight...

Let me ask a question BB and be honest...what were your thoughts when were were bombing the hell out of the Serbs in Belgrade? Were you just as angry? Was it a just cause? Let me tell you, I was working at Norfolk NAS during that campaign we loaded a LOT of hardware to drop on that city...wasn't just a light hit and run...we bombed the hell out of them. Clinton was President then (he actually came to Norfolk while I was there and I got to shake his hand...didn't care for him but was an Honor to meet the President) Were you pissed at him? On a different tangent, were you pissed when he oversaw the Branch Davidian siege? I had no probems with it but doesn't that go against your Constitution statement? Sure should have applied then no? (Again I was fine with it)

Lastly, how do you feel about the Taliban and what we did there? Another illegal or immoral war? Or were we justified in overthrowing those bunch of thugs? Should we be concentrating all of our efforts there?

I lied..one more thing...you are President....what would you do tomorrow and how would you handle the aftermath of your actions...what is your plan?

Whadda ya think?
