after owning both, i can honestly say if the HHR pulled the trigger its more because the HHR is a superior ride when compared point to point with the pt, the only thing i liked better about the pt, the lift gate went higher when opened. in every other way the HHR is better, more room, more gitty yup, better handling. you cant exactly blame another retro for killing the pt when dodge just plain tries to shine up a turd and call it a diamond.

I too owned one. There is really no comparison as to quality of ride and dependability. I only owned the PT for 2 years, the least amount of time I owned any vehicle.

If you felt like doing some cuttin' and other stuff, you could have one of those now (talkin' about the large sunroof, not conv.)

I loved the PT design when it first came out..but then they sold so darned many of the things I didn't want one. A "different" design that becomes commonplace takes the fun out of it for me. For that reason, while I want the HHR to stay around for awhile I'm just as happy not to see that many of them on the road.

Another point regarding the PT...and I know it's been said here before but it bears repeating...if Chrysler hadn't introduced the PT it's doubtful that GM would have come out with the HHR.

Will the PT Cruiser become in 40 to 50 years how the VW Beetle of the 60's are today?
