I have a friend looking for an AWD or 4WD small SUV that has a manual trans and is american made. Maybe even a hatchback.

The only one that comes to mind so far is the Ford Escape(washes mouth out with soap), it came with a 4cyl 5-speed and available 4wd or front drive.

All I can think of is a Ford Escape. Or maybe a Jeep Compass, Jeep Patriot, Jeep Wrangler... Depending on how used you wanna get, a Chevy Tracker.
